Beach Volleyball History and Beach Volleyball Tickets

In 1920 First Beach volleyball courts on the beach was created in Santa Monica, California for the people enjoyment, planting the seed for beach volleyball growth in that area. The first permanent nets began to come into view, and entertaining games were almost immediately being played on civic parts of the beach.

The private clubs also appeared at that time and in 1922, eleven such beach clubs come into sight in the Santa Monica region. The first competition at clubs level was played in 1924, California. The majority of these beginning beach volleyball competitions were played with teams of as a minimum 6 players from each side much like indoor volleyball. Johnson decided to try playing with only two people players which were present at that time. The game was forever changed until now only two people players played Beach Volleyball on the court at once for each team.

In 1930s, Beach volleyball comes into view in Europe and doubles competitions were being played on the beaches of Santa Monica for trophies in 1940s. The first competition to offer a prize was played in 1948; Los Angeles California and best teams were awards with a case of Pepsi. In the 1960s, a professional contest was held in France for 30,000 French francs and the first Manhattan Beach Open was also held in 1960.

The first professional beach volleyball competition was the Olympia World Championship of Beach Volleyball , staged on Labor Day weekend, 1976, at Will Rogers State Beach in Pacific Palisades which was organized by David Wilk of Volleyball Magazine. Volleyball Magazine staged the event the next year at the same location, this time sponsored by Schlitz Light Beer. The first World Beach Volleyball Championships was played in Rio Janeiro; Brazil won By Sinjin Smith and Randy Stoklos.

Worldwide professional competitions were arranged by the FIVB and Beach Volleyball was included as an exhibition game in 1992 Olympic.
